On September 12, 2019, the regular meeting of the Intellectual Property Committee was held at the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, it was attended by representatives of business and law firms of Ukraine.
At the meeting draft of law of Ukraine № 1230 was discussed, it provides for amendments to the Customs Code of Ukraine in order to protect intellectual property rights during the movement of goods across the customs border of Ukraine. One of the most debatable issues was the definition of the term “ infringing goods ” proposed in the draft and the practical consequences for business in case of its introduction to the draft version of law № 1230. The participants of the meeting agreed on proposing an alternative definition for the term “infringing goods", which would correspond to other provisions of the current legislation of Ukraine and promote the effective protection of intellectual property rights during the movement of goods across the customs border of Ukraine.
The partner of the Firm Eduard Tregubov participated in the meeting.
